Proto 6548 - what is it called? what use?

I recently encountered a Proto 6548 wrench - see attached photos.

I do not find this model number listed in my Proto catalogs.

Can someone please provide the name and intended use for this tool?

I recently made a similar tool for adjusting the toe in on my '91 ranger. It grips the split ?nut? that the tie rod screws into.

Damn! A Proto wrench i don't have, it's going on my wish list tomorrow.

It's old too. Proto started abandoning a lot of their automotive specialty stuff beginning in 1970 to focus more on the industrial market. I don't have many catalogs to look at, but I'd bet it's pre-70
