So i was wondering if anyone knew where to pick up a rebuild kit for a 3/8" Proto 5250. I put a little too much torque on mine and ended up twisting the square drive and the gears don't feel the as smooth as they did.

I got one free in the mail awhile back by calling the customer service number listed on the Stanley-Proto website.
Exactly how long of a pipe did you have on the ratchet handle?

The rebuild kit number that you want is J38PRK . The spring on mine was damaged causing it to skip. I emailed customer service and first they sent me a rebuild kit for an old 5249. After I told them it was not right they got me the right one.

Also if you have a MAC dealer they may be able to get you one. For a while MAC was selling a Big Dawg of their own. When I broke my long 1/2" drive Proto Big Dawg, I got a kit from my MAC dealer.

On the off chance you can't obtain one by calling the company, they're available for reasonable prices on Amazon (or where quite recently). You should be able to find it searching by the part number mentioned above. Actually now that I check, it doesn't seem to require the J, so searching for 38PRK will do the trick.

I've ordered one of mine that way, had no issues.
