Big Dawgs have really gone up. It seems like just last year they were easily found for less than $15 a pop. Supply must be drying up since it has been more than a few years since Proto stopped making them.

I wish I could find some with the plastic comfort handles besides the spinflex or indexable versions.

He's a great seller. I got two 3/8 drive standard length Proto BDs from him. If I hadn't already gotten those two I would have jumped on this deal of the standard length plus the long length. I'm hoping he sells some long length separately later.

Hey guys, Ive got a 1/4 and 1/2 drives in these big dawgs. I decided I wouldn't pay over 15 bucks for any single ratchet from now on. So over the past year I've watched ebay like a hawk for these ratchets. I wound up getting the 1/2 drive for $13 shipped, and the 1/4 for $10 shipped. I haven't found a similar deal on the 3/8 though. Cheapest I've seen the 3/8 is 20 bucks I think, too rich for my blood. I'll keep checking ebay periodically though.

Looks like the price on these pear head rathets are going up now that they have been discontinued for a few years:

A complete set of Proto ratchets all purchased from Grainger at close out prices. With sales tax, Elroy has $45.70 total in all three tools. Thanks to the board for posting these close out items. Hope to return the favor.

I paid $10 for the 1/4" and $15 for the 3/8" a while back.

Although I love proto tools, I'm not really fond of these ratchet,s, definitely not fine tooth

These are exactly what I'm looking for along with 3/8" and 1/2" long handles. I see quite a few of the Mac comfort handles, but I'd prefer the proto variants.

i have the same hard handles as elroy's plus the standard and long knurled 3/8. the hard handles are at least an inch longer than most other standard length rats and nearly as long as some long handle rats. the long hard handle big dawg must be real long.

Well, I just clicked on a buy-now for the pair of 1/2 drives for $35 and free shipping.

I tried to pay through paypal and it hangs at the page where you put in your password. So I went direct to ppal and tried that route. After putting in my pword I get a screen saying "for security" they want me to put in my credit card number! What the FFFFF! I do not trust screens asking for my credit card # when they already have it. The previous seller accepted money orders so this was my first attempt to use ppal.

edit: paypal issue resolved. I was logging on through a wireless VPN and so the IP address was across the country, looking suspicious to paypal who knows where I live.
