An alternate reality in a parallel universe.
I've been eyeballing a set of the Proto Black Chrome ratcheting spline combination wrenches and wanted to check with you guys on the black chrome. Have any of you guys use these, what is your opinion of this black chrome? Any chipping or flaking? I was originally going to score a set of SK's spline ratcheting wrenches but figured it best not to run the gamble of ever having to deal with any warranty issues.

I haven't seen them but it sounds interesting. I would think it would it would hold up the same as their chrome ratchets

I believe the Proto are made in tawain spline ratchet wrenches as well. I would personally go with SK or a Matco set.

I would never use a black wrench. I've dropped plenty of wrenches into the engine compartment and they can be tough to spot. The glistening chrome makes it easier to spot them.

If they were black they'd probably still be there.

Black chrome make no sense IMHO unless they come with an embedded GPS locater.

I would imagine the chances of chipping or flaking are the same as any other chrome wrench. If you want to check out the finish, I imagine it is similar to the Husky black chrome tools sold at HD, which are also made by Stanley.

The SK ratcheting wrenches are extremely tough; I have a bunch of them and have never had any issues. I wouldn't be overly concerned with warranty issues, but that's just me.
