Did Proto drop Blackhawk from their lineup, I went to the proto tools site to research a Blackhawk socket set 1217-MNB and can't find Blackhawk listed as it once was, instead Expert tools is.

Anybody know anything about this?

yes only the home page works it says, Blackhawk by Proto, after that none of the links work.

If I'm right the Expert Line used to be Britool, out of the UK, but is all made in Asia now. So I won't be buying any of that "new" line.

All of the Blackhawk links work for me. Something's wrong on your end.

Think the 'expert' line has always been Asian. Not sure where, but somewhere cheap for sure!

Stanley bought out Facom, who in turn had bought out Britool, so they branded their 'expert' tools 'Britool Expert' for the U.K. market only!

The old Britool factory has been gone for some years. Last time I drove past there was some stupid statue of wrenches outside! Weren't even Britool wrenches!

Unfortunately, China is not in that position, at least not yet! They may make great works of art, and even build impressive buildings, but they still struggle with decent mechanical engineering! I have seen many Chinese made machines, and machine accessories, and have yet to see one that would rival it's equivalent from the west, or other parts of the far east!
I would disagree with this statement in that China will give you all the quality you are willing to pay for. Various entities can produce everything from the crappiest **** to the finest precision based on the requirements contracted.

Products from China are not automatically ****, products are only **** if they're spec'd that way to be cheap. A lot of American companies are making unimaginable profit by importing boatloads of poor quality goods and selling it to price sensitive consumers.

Must have been a glitch in the system. Today it is working for me. As far as Asian tools go, haven't we beat this to death yet?

Exactly, quality control! Some of the tools I have are amazing, and made in taiwan! take a look at facom 440 wrenches and 467 ratcheting wrenches! So nice its sick:) But on the other side, I dont buy tools made in china! Show me some good tools from china! I doesnt know any china brand thats are equal quality to france/germany/usa premium brands like snap on,stahlwille,facom................
