Proto Challanger Tools

So on the way back from the Outer Banks I found a 1/4" extension laying in the parking lot. It said Challenger then under it, Proto.

Is this a sub brand of Proto? I assume they are good?

Yes. Was their lower end of tools. But even their lower end was still a really good set. Some people collect the Challenger line too.

In some cases, the Challenger line didn't get the full grind 'n' trim treatment. They saved some money on the wrench finish, stamped "Challenger" into it, and you get a wonderfully functional wrench that doesn't look as pretty as the more-expensive version.

I have a pair of wrenches, a Challenger and...something else. They seem to have come from the same forging, but the Challenger is rougher.

My first wrench set was a Proto Challenger bought from here. Great quality, made me see the difference between cheap chinese wrenches and usa made wrenches. Their ratchets and sockets werent half had either

Still can get them warrantied,you get a Blackhawk tool as a replacement since the Challenger line is no longer made.I did send one broke Proto Challenger socket in to get replaced,they sent me a Blackhawk socket as a replacement.My dad has a 3/4 drive set at work,a Proto Challenger set he bought for $500.00 used at the time.All the pieces are still there in the original metal case.

I have a set of proto challenger wrenches. They work great. I buy them when I find them.

I am looking for a 3/4" combo wrench for my set. The one I've got has some "modifications" done to it.

Good luck with that. They have told me multiple times sorry ***** being you. I have a lot of Challenger tools. Several still look like new.

Why would you try to warranty a tool that looks like new?

I got a few, they are ok, they work just like the rest of the wrenches. No magic, no mystery, no pixie dust.

I picked up a nice 1/2 socket set, deep socket set and Combo set in a roll last month.
Sellers dads (Joe C) tools, must be from the 60s. Wrench finish is not excellent but certainly a quality set.

They were the lower end line. As I never owned any I don't know if it was just finish or lesser quality. Full polish was not as common as it is today, when even cheap Chinese imports are full polish.

I got a set of combination wrenches for Christmas back in about 1972. I still use them, good wrenches.
