What is this used for? I was thinking of buying it for pain in the *** hydraulic fittings but don't know if it would be sturdy enough.

The tools in that box were intended for use on aircraft. I'm sure they'll do just fine. ;)

You are correct, they are for hydraulic fittings. You don’t use these to break the fittings loose necessarily if they require high torque. But they are life savers in some really tight areas. How much was this set? I am in the process of cleaning this one up and this is a 1-13/16.

I would be interested to know how much the set is, also. There was recently one on eBay for $2800. I don’t know if it sold, but I had a small set with the Proto Flying Lady box that I sold for $100.

Interesting…I am not sure if any manufacturer is making these now. They are very high quality and if they are not currently being manufactured, I could see why they commanded a high price

Wow someone else with these ratcheting ones! I have a few from the old tool box at work, seems like a great concept for difficult hydraulic fittings but I don’t work on them enough to have used it yet, and apparently they never caught on so could be a great idea that was just slept on and never made it or maybe they just aren’t that useful.

Only problem i can see is that there’s obviously only one position on the ring where you can get it on or off the fastener, it’s a full closed circle once you ratchet at all so you could possibly end up in a difficult area and have a tough time getting the tool off of the fastener

The ones in the OP's pic are 8 sided. What has 8 sided hydraulic hoses/pipes? Just curious, been working on equipment for years & dont recall running into any 8 sided hydro fittings.
