Does anyone have a good pic of the Flying lady? My neighbor owns a sign business and he's making me some garage art type stuff. I need something he can stretch out so the bigger the better. I found a couple through Google but they are either low resolution or too small. Any help will be greatly appreciated.

Nope, can't find it there. The Proto flying streamlined lady logo dates back to the Plomb days.

Here is a vintage Proto tool ad with the flying lady logo.

I would be interested to see how a repro sign of the Proto Flying Lady turns out! Heck, I'd buy one!

A Digression:

He is, but I won't tell you how I know, since he may not want his identity known. I am too (Amateur Extra Class), but I won't tell you my callsign.

That's silly, his username, KF5LCH, is his callsign and callsigns and the real name of the user are publicly available on the FCC website.

Back to the topic, I wonder if any tool company today would use a logo as classy as the Plomb / Proto Flying Lady or would it be too sexist in our politically correct world.

I love the old flying lady stuff. My neighbor is making a 24 x 14 metal sign for my garage. It'll have a navy blue background with off white lettering. The problem is that all the flying ladies we find are way too small and when he drags them out the get soo blury their unusable. I want some garage art beyond the crappy reproduction signs you find at the flea market. I'll post when it's done.

Hey Diesel, He is a newer Ham Radio operator, ARRL confirms his status. I am as well, KC8YPR. The flying lady is always a good logo for garage. I have been looking for one myself!

Someone just found my old one at my parents' while we were all there for Thanksgiving.

We have one here in the kitchen junk drawer too.

It's hard to beat the classics!

Doesn't look like my sign is going to work out :( All the images are too blurry once they're stretched. I have a buddy that's quite an artist and I may try doing it with a hand drawn version.

Made this in response to your post. I hope it helps. I like this version better than the "Los Angeles" version because its less cluttered. There are lots of color variations. I like these two the best.

I made them in Illustrator, using the links posted above & my own research. The original files are vector based and scalable. I might do a Los Angeles version as well. Maybe one without the banner?...

The top one is the pic I originally sent him to try and use but everything he's tried has been unusable when he stretched it out. I'm hoping the one's you made will hold up during this process. I'm digging the IR era stickers too. Do you sell them? I'd be glad to buy 3 or 4 from you.

I have no more stickers. I only made like 6 to test. I dont know how strict proto is in protecting their trademark and older images.

NoNN37 - Are those vector based?
originally they were, but I cant find the illustrator file now. The printplace wanted them converted to cymk or something and I mustve lost it. I have a jpg and png. I will probably convert or redo it better and maybe print a few more.

Heres the ones I did to test a while back. theyre not diecut, the setup fees were too much. I just trim them myself.:D

Was playing around on photoshop today, figured I'd attach these two. I do not own the logo, so caveat emptor. May possible play around with putting the PLOMB TOOL CO. Logo on there too, feel free to shout out some ideas, all I can do is try.
