Hey all, posted this on the general tool side too in re a Proto Logo post. Figure I'd post it here, don't want anyone to miss it. Let me know if anyone has any ideas on variations, given time in next few weeks I may play around with PLOMB TOOL CO. instead of PROTO TOOLS... These were done in Photoshop so they are not vectored, however they are pretty good sized nonetheless. I'm not a pro, so to some of you I'm sure they're rough, deal with it.

P.S. This is still hands down the best tool logo I've ever seen, that's a challenge guys, prove me wrong

In the 50's, did they shav...........oops, nevermind.

I can send you a pristine photo of several logos if you're interested (I KNOW I am) in getting them as close as possible to historically correct.. If so, PM me.

Do something with this one. Would be nice to find a higher res version of it, I tried to clean it up some, unsuccessfully.

Would make a cool screen printed metal sign.

One of the greatest logos ever. I love that the 's' in streamlined is the ribbon around her body...

AWESOME! I appreciate all the positive comments and support, I'm not an artsy guy to begin with so I'll keep trying here! Alright, while watching a bit of the ol' debate tonight I was fiddling some more... Here she is with the "plomb bob" logo. I'll continue editing to see if I can get the "PLOMB" words across similar to the "PROTO TOOLS" image, my one concern is lack of shadowing in "PLOMB" in any of the cats...that may be beyond my limited expertise.

Duro, you're exactly right, I think this logo is awesome, it would be great if Proto would "re-release" it as their logo, I'd pony up and buy some new pouches for my loose wrenches!

VCaddy -- What are you thinking here? I can see if I can scale down the flying lady to "fit" into the blue/white version, otherwise I can crop it down so it's just the shape. I'm open to suggestions

Ganymede -- Glad to help, never thought I'd be a wallpaper creator, I'll add it to the resume! The Plomb one may work better, "PROTO TOOLS" was a bit cut off on my iPhone, this one fits.

cheers all!

I'm diggin the Plomb version, is it possible to get a little larger? Oh, I'm also gonna need some decals, T-shirts, key chains, pens & an 18"x 29" sticker for the inside of my cart lid....hmmmm, countrytech, are you around?

I was just thinking clean up the image as is. It's just kinda grainy for metal sign purposes. I'd like to know where the image came from, to round up a higher res version.

But I like your idea of replacing the flying lady too.

Another rendition of the beloved flying lady. This one is a tad tiny, however, flying lady is hi-res so it's OK, not my best work...

VCaddy, you find much for Proto/Plomb out in Western ND? I hit a few swap meets here on the Eastern side but it's slim pickin's. I think that logo you posted is out of a supplier catalog, I'm not 100%, but the resolution was pretty small.

That logo was pretty tiny when I blew it up in Photoshop (too small actually, I threw in that hat). I had a bit more luck with Stuart in MN's logo.

Richard, glad we could get you sipping on the flying lady kool-aid, it's quite tasty!

May be MIA for a week guys, spotty reception at my lake place, will be playing with photoshop some then and will post when I return.

Be well, have a great weekend all!

I would love to have a poster of this catalog cover for my garage wall. Along with the "S" of streamlined, I also really like the silhouettes of military personnel along the bottom, and the plumb bob hanging from a string along the right side.

I agree, notlob! It's a beautiful logo. And that cover pretty much says it all for the era.

Too bad the name of the original artist is lost in the mists of time. Nowadays, they'd have their own clothing line and publicist! ;^)

Hey Twertsy -

Is there any way you could get me a high-resolution scan of this catalog cover? I could then clean it up in photoshop, and see if I can get it printed in largish format for the Plomb'ers here on GJ.
