I thought all Proto tools were made here in Dallas at the Proto plant.

Stupid side question... are the Mac tools made in that same plant?

As far as I know they are very similar to the Mac knuckle savers...some of the ratcheting wrenches are out of Taiwan

I am currently traveling and I return Sunday afternoon. Most of my wrenches are wright, but I think I have a couple of these standard Proto ASD wrenches. So if you don't get a good picture I'll check to see what I have.

Almost all of my protos are the reversible ratcheting wrenches and I love those, but those are not made in the USA, they are made in Taiwan and I don't remember if they have ASD... And for those they don't know ASD means anti-slip design.

I thought Proto Discontinued the full polished 500 ASD Version? :dunno:

Here's my contribution, quick cell phone snaps of my 8-24 mm set minus 9, 20, & 23 mm. Note the 8mm isn't ASD. Proto starts ASD at 10mm. Great wrenches!! similar to MAC Knuckle Savers. US made set. Too pretty to use

The T500 series is what you want.
Proto has modernized the markings on a lot of their tools recently, and I haven't seen the latest of these wrenches.
They are also rolling the COO dice, so double check if that is a deciding factor. That said, I would expect these to still be USA.
Depending where you purchase from, they may be old stock with the previous design.
Looking on eBay they appear to currently look something like this (not my listing):

Thanks for the pics, the new versions look great! I am wanting a set of knuckle savers minus the crazy price from Mac so I think these are it.
Are they the longer pattern? I like the Wright s but find they are too short

Pictured is a Proto 1213M-T500 13mm combination wrench compared to an 11-13MM 13mm Wrightgrip satin finished wrench. The Proto measures 7 13/16 overall and the Wrightgrip comes in at 7 1/16 inches.
The Protos are longer than a standard length wrench but, I don't know if they're considered long pattern as a Snap on 13mm wrench is 8 inches long and an Icon 13mm comes in at 8 1/8 long. A MAC 13mm Knuckle Saver is listed as 7 7/8 long in their online catalog. :dunno:
MAC is on crack wanting over $600 list price for a 10-19mm set :wtf:

So I'm about to post a photo of two protos 1209-1500 and 1211-1500. That would be 9/32 and 11/30 seconds. I will also post sitting in between them the right tools 5/16-in 1210.

And now I will post a close-up of the Jaws that demonstrates that the right tools is a bit thicker.. And it shows that the wright grip 2.0 have some teeth to pull out some rounded bolts.. I expected to see that on the protos but I'm not seeing it... Maybe the 1500s Don't have it but I thought they did...

Hope this helps

Pretty sure my Protos and Snap Ons are basically the same length. I would call them a long pattern I guess.

I have the 'old' style ( didn't even know untill now that they changed them) Pretty sure they are T500s. They are great wrenches. Actually like them over my Snaps Ons. The ASD design works great and the rounded handles are way more comfortable when you are really getting after it.

I bought both my metric and standard Proto wrench sets off eBay. Both 'used' but they looked brand new when they showed up. Didn't pay more than $110 per set.

Thanks for the input, I read that 9mm and down don't have the ASV teeth on the metric side so I imagine that's the reason your 11/ 32 and 9/32 don't have them.
Interesting, if I remember I will see if I have a larger proto of this type... Probably not.

Yes, that info is in the Proto catalog.

9mm and smaller, 36mm and larger, 11/32" and smaller, 1-5/16" and larger do not have ASD feature.

Maybe a better way to word it is only 10mm-35mm and 3/8" to 1-1/4" have ASD feature.

Damn those are nice, I am hoping the new 12 points look exactly like it. Thanks for the pic 💪

I purchased a set from Zoro in recent months, and the stamping is the older design. I have not seen any 12 point with that newer stamping, so that may be exclusive to the 6 point wrenches.
