Proto impacts shorter than most?...

My Proto 22mm 3/8 drive shallow impact saved my **** doing a pulley the other day because it was so shallow. All my impacts are older Cman, I only have Protos in the bigger sizes like 20-25mm.
Anyone who has a set of shallow proto in 1/2 or 3/8 can you tell me if they are all shallower compared to Cman or other brands?....a Pic would be even better!

I think they're pretty standard, 38-40mm is what they generally measure at for the shallows for most brands. Mighty 7 has a set of very shallow that measure out at around 24mm.

Here's a Proto, snap on in middle and an older Blackhawk USA which is tallest. All 1/2" drive 13/16". And I know for a fact my sunex is same size as snap on. I know some companies make super shallow or compact impact sockets, but not sure if Proto does. I know they make super short chrome sockets though.

Thanks, looks like Proto just runs their larger 3/8 in the other large 3/8 blank sizes, so the 20-25 shallows that I have look abnormally shorter.

I agree that the Proto 3/8 drive impact sockets run shorter which as you experienced, can be a good thing I haven't had any issues with them being too short.
I also think the socket walls are a little thinner too. I really like my PROTO stuff. If they would come out with the Proto version of MAC's 90 tooth ratchet, I'd would be a very happy camper.

The shortest I have are an SK 3/8 drive set, lost the 7/16 and got a Snap-On replacement, the SK sockets are 3/4 the size of the Snap-On.

Maybe a harbor freight set and run the end down on the bench grinder? Just for those "I need that extra 1/8 th inch" moments.
I had a 1/4" SAE gear wrench set I did this to in my hanger tool box. Saved my **** more than once.
