Around mid 2013, I decided to buy a set of these and ordered the super shorts in SAE and Metric, come to find out the metrics were nla from Proto, so I just had the SAE. Anyhow, I had actually forgot about that and ran across some metric sets on Ebay yesterday and jumped on it to finally finish my set. I just figured there may be some of you guys in the same boat, so I'll pass this along. These sets are still in the original packaging according to the seller.

There is also one set available from a third party seller on Amazon. These can also be purchased from Mac still afaik, but my tool OCD wanted a matching set, plus the Protos are cheaper.

At work we used to have all snapon, then a ton of craftsman since a store was down the street, but now we're all proto for new stuff. I cant tell any difference in sockets, but I'm not a fan of the ratchets. Something about them seems loose to me. They tend to break gears, at least at work.

FWIW: Those don't look all that low profile.

I wish they came in impact though.

They are and they are a complete set. they are not as short as the snap on but are quite short. I have the Mac set and snap on. The mac are the same as proto.

I didn't know they ever made those is metric... I had looked a bit too. With shipping it's not really much cheaper than MAC so I'll just wait and get them off the truck.

Mac will throw them on sale at least twice a year. Same sockets.

About 5 years ago mac had the SAE and metric for like $89.00 or $109.00, it was super cheap. It was like a BOGO sale.

You bet. Stanley, proto, blackhawk, Mac, black and decker, dewalt and a couple others are all owned by the same company now. Oh ya, boschit.

Ok.. but is there a bit of a snap on/williams thing going on. Whenever I see higher quality proto stuff (new) it has only the proto name on it... over here there are relatively cheap proto tools that have the stanley name stamped on the tool right next to the proto name....

Those might be before Stanley bought them. To my best knowledge all proto stuff now has the S stamped on it. For warranty reasons I'm sure. still grade A stuff, not cheap by any means.

I love the few Proto pieces I have, the side cutter's I have are tougher than nails! Proto Professional can barely be made out.
