Proto or? Wrenches

I'm looking to purchase these two Proto wrench sets:

-J1200F-T500 (15 piece)
-J1200RM-T500 (17 Piece)

I'm looking for high quality, polished wrench sets like these. The snap-on sets are just too much right now, with the market the way it is. I'm not a profesional technician, but I am into engine building and automotive hot-rodding, and I do like to use high quality tools.

I can purchase both of these sets for a total price of $749 CAD.

Is this is a decent price to be paying? Do you guys have other reccomendations? Keep in mind that I am from Canada, and I have to figure in taxes when crossing the border, which really add up when purchasing more expensive tools.

I live in BC. I don't have any proto wrenches but have proto sockets and ratchets and love them the quality is Of snap on. I would buy them if it were me those are the wrenches I want.

The answer is yes. However, you can easily cut ever that cost in half, especially on the standard set, if you are just a little patient on ebay. The polished ones don't come up as often as satin, especially metric. When they do though, they are always a fabulous deal.

Lots of people on here will also recommend wright. They can be bought for less than proto new on amazon. They also have an anti slip feature, more comparable to snap on's version. They are in many people's opinion every bit as good as snap on or proto. I have an older metric set and would be inclined to agree.

The OP is looking at 749 Canadian, which is exchanging at about 40% right now. In US funds that is about $535; so you are saying he can get the 2 sets for about $270?

I did notice that he was a Canadian after I posted. Wasn't sure how exchange rates were at the moment, not something I need to deal with. Apparently they **** for you guys. Full polish would be tough to get for that money.

Proto ASD's are damned good wrenches, not just for the money either. Snap On's are a tad better in shape and comfort, but nowhere near worth it regarding the price difference. I think Wright makes the best wrenches overall and are cheaper though. Not gonna try to sway you away from Proto, all three companies make fantastic wrenches and you wont have to worry about performance with any of them.

And I dont think you should hold out for full polish, Proto's satin is pretty classy, and all full polish wrenches eventually succumb to drawer rash.

SK long pattern are with a look though IMHO.

OP That is an avg price for those 2 sets. Very good wrenches, you would be happy. Really hard to go wrong with Proto wrenches, they just feel right.
