Proto Pliers?

Hey everyone! So, I have a Proto 1/2" drive ratchet, and it's a really solid tool, but what are their pliers like? Worth the money? Thanks!

Pretty decent. I have used their precision pliers in the past, and they were well forged and finished. The handles were basic, but comfortable.

The full-sized pliers are probably going to be the same - basic but decent, although I'd probably look at other brands first.

Who is the OEM for Proto pliers?

I think Wilde/lang make their snap ring pliers and Western Forge make the dike and linemans.

Regardless, very good quality tools. I have a few Proto branded pliers and no complaints.

Some of Proto's smaller pliers (current) are made by Pro America; good stuff! I'm not sure how much of Pro America is carried by Proto. This is discussed a little bit in this thread: small/'precision' pliers set...

They are good quality, but not necessairly a good value IMHO. Just like SK, Armstrong and Wright pliers.

The pliers are ok but if you ever get the chance buy a few of their Duratek screwdrivers they are very nice.

Who is the OEM for Proto pliers?

When I ordered some pliers direct from Proamerica, the gentleman I spoke with on the phone told me they supplied several companies, Proto being among them.
For the money, I'd go with the Proamerica or Wilde over Proto. I posted some photos of the Proamerica miniature pliers in the thread cited above. I am quite satisfied with them - they're actually better than what I expected.

Look at Ebay: sellers with best prices are donvito-NY, bowerstool and cripesdistributing. (search " KAL America pliers" or " Pro America pliers " )

A pair of Blackhawks are my favorite. Might be the same as Proto.
