Proto ratchet repair help needed

I recently picked up a Proto 1/4" ratchet at a yard sale. It has 753 stamped on it.

I opened it up to clean and oil it and found the wheel is chewed up. Went online and ordered a kit that was supposed to look like this.....

Sorry about the photo placements. The part number that seems to be attached to this is J4749XLRK. I got the kit and it had parts for a newer and much different ratchet. Bottom line is that Proto says the kit is no longer made. All of the vendors I contact are showing a picture of the parts I want are using the wrong photo and description and want to send me the J4749XLRK kit.
My question is does anybody know what old number kit I can use to search for?
I think the tool is worth saving and I have a use for it, just need a new female drive wheel for it. The pawls show a little wear and it needs another spring but the big deal is the wheel. It would also be nice if Proto and assorted distributors would change the picture as well.

I can't help you with regards to the kit, but it looks like you have what's called a refrigerator wrench. I've handled a few, and for the most part their openings are the same. If you have a need for one, there's always a variety available on eBay. Might be easier just to find another wrench than locating the kit for this one. Just a thought.

Maybe you want to use the tool for it’s intended purpose, but perhaps someone here can tell you if a regular 1/4 male ratchet kit would fit it.

It should fit UNLESS the refrig. wrench head is slimmer.

Using the online pictures for reference, it appears the parts would fit. Seems the trick is to find an NOS kit somehow. I have even considered getting a male kit and a broach and converting it to female but that shoots me headfirst down the rabbit hole of making a $5.00 yard sale ratchet into a $50.00 yard sale ratchet. (Ask me sometime how my $5.00 yard sale Skil 77 saw rehab is going). Looking at some of the parts descriptions the repair kits that are no longer made gave the option of fixing a male or female ratchet.

That's the hard part. The kit had the above number on it, but the parts went to a different wrench. Nothing matched. I called Proto again and verified the parts pictured were what comes in the kit. I am trying to re-order the kit from McMaster-Carr. Yeah, a donor wrench might be worth a shot. Crossing my fingers I got a bad kit. (eBay seller)

Cross your fingers kids, I ordered another kit from McMaster-Carr using the verified part number from Proto. We'll see if my luck changes. The great thing about MMC is returns are easy if there is trouble.

My old Proto catalog lists the repair kit #4753RK

There for awhile you could pick the whole ratchet up on Ebay for not much money.

The problem I find with older Proto stuff is when they were IR Proto they wanted every store on earth to sell Proto from Auto Parts to Hardware and everything in between. Then when Stanley bought them they had a plan and Proto was industrial sales and government sales and all the other stuff slowly went away because Stanley wanted other brands for Autoparts sales and other brands for Hardware and the old stuff i just gone. I love Proto and really miss the older idea of when they sold all types of tools for all types of industries but I never going to walk in to an Auto Parts store again and see a wall of Proto Tools again. I also like SK and there is only a few places in the country at this time where you can see a wall of them as well.

So after quizzing Proto and getting McMaster involved, I found a listing on Amazon for the same kit. In the reviews, someone posted the parts sent in the kit do not match the image the the whole planet goes by. That image, in my first post, is generic and it is the parts I am after. The parts they ship are the image below and has nothing to do with my old ratchet. Cancelled the order with McMaster and will continue to hunt for the proper parts. Thanks to all for the hints and ideas.

Set up a search on ebay and put a want ad in the classified section here. Also, call Proto, ask them who some of their oldest distributors are - you may find one collecting dust on a shelf.

Somewhere in the universe, that kit exists, you just have to find it.
