Anyone used them??

I need a new set of drivers and im thinking of trying these. Im looking for similar to snap on quality though... so basically im asking if they can compete with snap on screwdrivers.

I've actually never used them but they look like a good set of drivers.

Could be possibly for sale....

I have had several of these. They say "made in the USA with global components" on the package. The handles are marked "England."

At least the handle is made in England. Perhaps the entire screwdriver is made in England and just assembled here.

Or pony up far less cash and buy Williams, which will get you the famous Snap-on "hard handles" with them to boot.

Proto makes an excellent screwdriver. I have both the Williams hard handle and the Proto. If the Williams are Snap On quality, then I would put the Proto's up against them any day. The Proto's have a three sided handle though. Also no bolster. Two drawbacks to be aware of.
That set in the Harry Epstein link is a pretty good price. If you have a local heavy truck/industrial supply, they may carry Proto.

They're nice, but imho not worth the full retail cost unless you're an ardent Proto fan. I do like the handles a lot, though.

I've never seen these but Snap-On is tough to beat. I've never had more durable screwdrivers than Snap-On. I'd focus on more on whats the best screwdriver to fit your needs at a price your comfortable with. make sure it's easy to warranty. Husky Pro makes a really good screwdriver and easy to warranty

They are sold as sidchrome here in Australia. My work has a set and i not a big fan of the phillips fit in screws. They handles are comfortable though.

I'm a big Protonaut, but I have never been able to fork over for these new Proto drivers. I don't like fussy handles and overmolds. I would also imagine the triangular section would be a challenge. I really should buy ONE and see if my prejudices are accurate or not. Who knows maybe I'd love them.

Global components...so the handles are made in England and the shaft of what, Chinese gum wrappers and recycled cans?

I own SO and Williams and they're OK. I don't understand why so many people fall on their swords over them. One of my PH#2 SOs wore out pretty darned quickly, seems to me...

Proto also has a newer line of screwdriver I think they call them classic or something.
Go to Proto's web site and look for the yellow colored handles they are not the old style they had for fifty years but they are a good product.

If you want a Stanley product that will compete with Snap-On I would look at the 100+ series screwdrivers.

I'm with you on that. I have 2 Williams Phillips, neither more than 6 months old. I'm not a mechanic by trade and don't work with them every day, but they're already showing signs of wear. The 10" #2, the one I've used most, is starting to cam out of fasteners. Very annoying.

When it comes to screwdrivers, I prefer the old Proto yellow handled straight blades and the red handled Wright Phillips. I'll leave the SO and Williams stuff for others.

(The Proto wood handles are wonderful too, though I only have one from which to make a judgement.)

My 100+ are not near the quality and feel of my Proto set being discussed. The 100+ #2 phillips almost seem disposable. The only screwdrivers I like as well as the Proto are my Witte Protop Plus. Both have very comfortable handles and good blades. The bolster would be nice, but I rarely used it on my Kleins or Snap-ons.
