Yeah, I wasnt real stoked. I get the guy not wanting to hold it without payment but I was ready to stand tall and send the money right away. Oh well, time for me to finish up that craftsman stack you sold me! Once I finish it up, the law of Murphy dictates one of these tool mobiles with pop up almost immediatley for sale :)

That’s a bummer. I too had something similar happen with a Plomb toolmobile not too long ago

Man, that is rough. I had a similar deal fall through at the southern end of the state, although not as nice a box like that one.

It was a bit of a bummer considering I had offered to pay half right away and also offered to give the guy extra money... Oh well, I guess it wasn't to be. If this was closer I would be all over it but I couldn't justify the drive unfortuanatley.

This is located in the vintage tool section but I dont think anyone is going to mind the occasional new stuff, as long as it's proto...
Haha I am honestly just messing. I do have a decent amount of modern Proto stuff. Vintage Proto is scarce around these parts.

Thats interesting that vintage proto is scarce around your part...they had a factory in Tx.
I agree, especially being that a lot of Proto is sold to industrial customers I believe and there are a lot of old Oil/Gas companies that have came and went in east Texas. I believe they still make some of their tools here as well as Mac.

Edit: they are still made in Dallas.

I’m new here... I’ll post up my collection soon.
I found this little guy in Kauai last week. Random antique store basket, mixed in with rings, beads, non-tool stuff, etc.

Of course I had to buy it, you can’t leave a lonely puppy at the pound.

We try! Lugz has a sticky with a pretty good directory at top of the vintage tool forum.

Ignore the sneaky Plomb wrenches... I found this Proto LA 1127 yesterday and thought it interesting. I don't remember coming across 19/32 regularly.

Best regards,
John

I have a 19/32 Proto in my working set, as a lot of old bolts are that size. For example, the bolt holding my Delta scroll saw to the factory stand.

There y'all go again filling holes in my knowledge!

Much appreciated, gentlemen.

V/r,
John
19/32 was also a size used by Ford on connecting rods for the early v8's...if you go back and look at plomb catalogs, there is a special, low clearance socket in 19/32 specifically listed for that application

Someone can correct me if I am wrong, but I believe that a lot of /32 sizes are for USS sized bots, not the standard SAE we see the most of, well, outside automotive.

That is correct.

An S.A.E. 5/16" bolt had a head (and nut) that was 1/2" in diameter. A U.S.S. 5/16" bolt had a head (and nut) that was 19/32" in diameter. Same size hole, same size bolt through the hole, but bigger head (and nut). The 5/16" bolt that was sourced in S.A.E. hardware standards needs a 1/2" box end, open end, or socket wrench. The 5/16" bolt that was sourced in U.S.S. hardware standards needs a 19/32" box end, open end, or socket wrench. Well into the 50's at least.

It's in the Sticky, guys!!!!!!

I picked up this nice 5496 box today. I does have some scratches but the paint is pretty good overall. It looks like it first shows up in the 1962 catalog

Picked up this old girl this AM at a garage sale:

finding any wrench roll has been difficult for me, but finding a Proto LA has been like hen's teeth, so pretty stoked to find this. It might take me a while to find all LA-marked ignition wrenches, but it won't happen if I don't start.

Killer find Beemer!
Yeah he ***** pretty bad...There was a dual marked ignition tools pouch complete with tools recently listed on facebook market place. I tried repeatedly to get the seller to ship it and he refused... I believe BMW also tried to meet him physically and the seller responded days later and was horrible with communication. I guess those kinds of misses make the finds like this one so rewarding.

Found this at a sale last weekend in a craftsman stack. The drawer cover was up but it didn't look right, glad I investigated. Never knew these existed in the flying lady version.
