Combos came both ways too
They don't look as Cool, so I only pick them up as placeholders

So, I may have come across Chevron DBE's afterall.... since they aren't polished between the chevrons, I probably ignore them
I don't have a problem leaving them for the next guy :)

Funny, I've never seen a non polish chevron combo in the wild.
It'd be neat if someone someday figures out the when/why, polish/non polish, where the three stars fit in, etc.

If you get into DBE's, you can't even collect just based on part number because the 8183 and 8184 had two versions over the years.
Early 8183 are 3/4 X 25/32, later are 11/16 X 13/16.
Early 8184 are 13/16 X 7/8, later are 3/4 X 7/8. No idea when the switch happened.
8180, 81, 82, and 85 remained constant as far as I know.

Wow I'm thinking about it, just for the larger ones. No 19 is kinda weird as skips go, but who am I kidding about actually using them.

I've got what is probably the age-equivalent set in SK, NOS also, original vinyl also, and no way would I try to get $500 out of it. Hmmm.

There's a nos set of the polished metric combos on ebay for 500!

I looks like it would be an almost entirely useless 'set', as it misses out the often needed sizes 13mm, 17mm, 19mm and 27mm!
I have noticed that sometimes USA sets miss the 19mm and the 27mm, but that's understandable as I assume users would already have 3/4" and 1 1/6" which are so darn close in size. But missing out the 13mm and the 17mm would just lead to user anger! Maybe this is why the set is 'NOS'?

I've got one of those Chevron DBE, along with a couple of the DOE ones. Would be happy to trade them to someone for a couple regular Proto DBE that I need for my user set.

^^Well holy crud, that’s a new wrinkle for me.
I’ve got a couple dozen Chevron 81XX series DBE’s. At least one complete set, maybe two.
That there is the first 11XX series Chevron that I’ve ever seen.

Aaaand, since they made flat beam 11XX series in Chevron, maybe there ARE polished DBE’s out there.
(Under the supposition that polishing the round beam 81XX wrenches was nixed as a PITA).

If you want them, PM your mailing address and I will stick them in the mail
That’s a kind offer, but I’m working on filling out more partial sets than I can juggle!!
Pre flank drive OEXMs, pebble flares, black band metrics x three drive sizes and x two lengths, p&c doe’s,
and now recent discussion has me re-thinking about all the Wizard polished beam combos I’ve passed up.
I’m melting……I’m meeelllllting!!!

Some TAC ratcheting crows feet of various vintages. One with a lever to disengage the ratcheting mechanism leaving the hex section to turn freely. Haven’t taken them apart yet. If the slotted screws are replacements they were well executed.

Looks like one of those in the upper right hand corner has replacement screws. All the rest are original. Somewhere up thread I took one of these apart and posted pictures. Basically just two pawls and springs like a ratchet
