You’re welcome. I tried to capture all of the date codes. Happy to contribute to the collective knowledge. I was surprised by how few slotted screws there were. I imagine that reducing manufacturing costs was a large factor in the change. 🤑
-Don

Your 1956 Los Angeles unreinforced adjustable wrench had the assembly screw, and no through hole. In this video around the 6:30 mark there is a patent pending click-stop with the through hole for a pressed in assembly method., along with the reinforced hanging hole. The click-stop patent was pending between 1957 and 1959. I’ve asked the YouTuber for the date code on the wrench, but haven’t heard back. I obviously watch way too many tool videos.

Neighborhood Garage Sale was a good one.
I resisted most of the stuff (good deals :ROFLMAO: ) that I really don't need nor have room for

But......
I did find a few Proto double open end wrenches
The top one can be posted in the Plomb thread since it's double marked

Here are my most recent Proto finds...... I cleaned up the 13/16” combo and used it to replace a funky Thorsen in my user box.
-Don
I also have a Thorsen 13/16 combo as a placeholder in a Proto set :ROFLMAO:
For some reason finding 13/16'ers that are matches in several sets that I am trying to complete, has been difficult

I saw Gollom at the Flea Market today raking through a big box full of wrenches
He had a big pile going...

I waltzed over to see what he was buying
He didn't like me peeking so he covered up his stash

Mine!
Mine!
All Mine!
:ROFLMAO:

I stood off so that I wouldn't get bit....
While he was haggling with the seller over the price of that big pile of wrenches (mostly shiny newer ones), I noticed that he left this one

So, I bought it

I am in the process of cleaning up tools from the big April swap meet. I’m been super busy and my collection isn’t top priority unfortunately 😳👍. I found these 2 nos mfd era 5449 ratchets at the scrapper booth. They have never been used. This is the inside when I opened them up. All I had to do was lubricate and wipe them down. I wish all my tools I found were that nice

I grabbed some UL listed proto screwdrivers today.

I also grabbed this empty box for a hex bit set.

And last but not least a 16” LA adjustable wrenches. It appeared that the stationary jaw was welded back on. But it had shown no signs of ever being broken. I guess someone wanted it to be stronger. I would think the moving jaw would break before the stationary jaw anyway.

I ground down the weld some.

One of these days I will get the rest of the family in order and take a picture.

Kind of a silly post but I'm sure y'all might get a kick out of it, I recently sat down to watch the movie "It's a Mad Mad Mad Mad World" (which I highly recommend if you haven't seen it before: between cars, service stations, phenomenal comedians and more its pretty entertaining) however there is one scene I really got a kick out of, two of the characters find themselves in a hardware store (quite a nice one really) ... and whats that in the very back of the scene? A full wall of Proto flying lady tool boards fully stocked!

I find myself using nut drivers more and more these days, and I do like having complete sets of things, so I have switched from my vintage wall mount of Xcelite nut drivers to these:

A set that goes from 3/16" to 5/8", although I am not sure were my 11/32" is right now. Probably on the bench out in the garage.
