The hinge handle is certainly not Proto. That’s got duro/ indestro written all over it. I don’t think the ratchet adapter is either
Yea I'm dumb ha the breaker bar was a mental oversight and ratchet adapter one is a little odd though especially having similar part number

I cleaned up this Proto Ruby Line screwdriver I found yesterday. It looks like they may have been supplied by Xcelite.IMG_5876.jpegIMG_5877.jpeg

Nice find. For being a low cost alternative offered by Proto, you would think you would find alot more of them in the wild than you do. Not real common, at least in my experience. And I agree with your Xcelite observation

Thought I'd post something different for you -Australia related.

Stanley bought Sidchrome in 1991, and moved production to Taiwan in late 90's, however Aussie stocks ran low and Proto filled the gap
(1998-2000 ish) till Taiwan was up and running.

The toolsets had some pure Proto tools-hammers, hex keys maybe a few others and also sold Proto in conjunction with Sidchrome

I do like their Ball pein hammers as well ,just feel right-found 2, polished them up as needed one for the Wall cabinet.

The layout is not right as i set it up for my use.SAM_3369.JPGSAM_3370.JPG

Always wanted a round corner box. At some point the socket holder was cut out but whoever did it was very careful not a hack job like some i've seen.

I received this box yesterday off Ebay. I researched ITCL and thru the catalogs and surmise it's the #2124 20pc 3/8 drive set as viewed in the 1963 catalog. But I reckon it's a later year that had a pilfer proof insert. Hard to ID from the catalog because, other than seeing the same dimensions, there's no top view to show a handle like mine has. Anybody got one of these?1000026931.jpg1000026932.jpg1000026933.jpg1000026934.jpg

60s plastic insert box. Sold fleet, penens and Challenger sets in them. Preceeded by basically the same box with metal dividers and several latch variations.

OTG,
...however, upon closer examination I believe the handle is not original to this box and was applied by an owner. The placement of the handle is not exactly centered and the hardware looks fabricated with the bolt ends sheared off and a metal spacer plate added to one side.

All this now realized, I'm sticking with late 60s early 70s #2124 set and will restock it with the sockets and such as per the 1963 catalog.

After further measurement and review of the 1963 CH63-301 catalog, I've determined this to be a 9005 box used with the No 2501-A 3/8 drive set. This set did come with a pick-quick insert. Now, off to sort through my Challenger box and see what can be restocked!

The Plomb and early Proto pullers used standard threads. I have a couple of later Proto heavy-duty models with 3/4-12 Acme threads instead of the earlier 3/4-10 NC threads. Beefier, and a little stronger, but you can't get a longer screw at the hardware store!

Proto from a garage sale Friday.

4 ea. 4016 heavy-duty puller arms. These are grind-off's but I think they were factory-made for a customer, since they all have exactly the same relief ground in the jaw hook to clear a shaft behind the bearing race. I bought four of these pullers earlier this Summer, so this gives me some arms that I needed.
