I found this old 3/4" socket box in at a barn sale yesterday, and as I am a sucker for any flying lady logos I find, it came home with me.
And here it is with my Proto LA 3/4" pieces. A little bit off, but close enough for now.

@bmwrd0 , I've got a 15/16" and 1-5/16 Proto L.A. 3/4" drive sockets. Let me know if you're missing either of them for your nice new 3/4" drive box.

UNAIU, I could use both of those! And I have a rather pristeen 1-7/16 extra if you need it, along with many Plomb extras, but I would have to dig through them to find what I have. Just let me know if you are interested.

OTG, that is a peach of a set, what with that decal and the sticker!

These catalog supplements just showed up from an ebay seller in Canada. When I opened up the package I was a little dissapointed to find some one put a couple staples in the folder, but that dissapiontment quickly turned to excitement when I opened it up and found that it was the sales rep’s card stapled to it. You can’t really tell in the picture but the letters in the logo are raised up on the cover. All the pages have a list of all the tools and part numbers on the pack

Thanks guys! Sadly it is only the three pages and not the full thing, but I was still pretty happy to get it. So, sorry OTG, no page for boxes. That roller sure is fly though!

Wow nice catalog! I have been looking for a catalog listing for this roller20210620_180718.jpg. Any chance it's in there?
The more I look at that box, the more I think it is a dead ringer for my Snap-on box

Now, I am not saying it is a Snap-on, but there is some connection there. Is the lower compartment panel held in with two tabs on the bottom? Is it friction slides, two per drawer with the bottom drawer having four?

Interesting. Snap on did not make any of their boxes until 58. Could be same manufacturer. Certainly has similar drawer layout.

After a bit of searching, I think duplex was the oe. Apparently pendelton bought them out in 58 after a factory fire. There is some info on it in this thread..

Not apparently; factually. The thread that Provincial links in the thread you are linking has my original research. PTII moved the operations to Ft Smith, Ark. shortly thereafter.

I know you are particular about your research and it has on many occasions solved our tool mysteries.

More great research! I see the duplex rb30 which appears to be the same box, 147$ in 1962. Were they making the proto toolmobiles as well for a time? My drawer pulls look like the pulls on this one, posted earlier in this thread.

OTG I believe this PROTO toolmobile is waterloo made... It has alot of physical characteristics of waterloo made rollers.

Just curious. Since duplex became a subsidiary of pendleton in 58, did they take over toolmobile production as well?

Here are my finds from the swap meet this friday! It was a banner proto LA day and I was super excited to get what I did. I bought this rough but complete standard length combo and long pattern combo board. Combo stops at 15/32 but I have been looking for a full size combo board forever. This will suffice in the mean time. I have already cleaned the face and applied some sealer to minimize further paint loss. It cleaned up pretty decent and was worth the $50 in my opinion. I was able to walk the seller down from $85 to 50 due to holes in the face and some water damage. Pictures are in as found condition, not cleaned condition. I also was beyond stoked to get this 1956 catalog with price sheet for $5 as well :). After the swap meet I went to Provincials amazing shop and did some horse trading with him to acquire some of the pieces seen here! Thanks to him I am able to fill some holes on my authentic tool boards including the tappet wrenches, battery puller, and those large size combos!

Pictures of the tool board now that I have cleaned it up and put up some combos on it. I have the long pattern combos on the other full size board I have in the back of the garage. But now this shows me that I dont have a 5/16 proto la combo...anyone have one ?

Here is a picture of those other full size boards I bought recently...I haven't taken the time yet to clean up the edges of al the slathered on paint but I will eventually get to them. In the mean time, I filled them up with what I have so far but I still have a ways to go. This is where my long pattern combo wrenches are from the other board...

The tip of this tool is missing the chrome on the sides of the wedge shaped end, which means its been ground on a bit. I've tried searching this thread and the world wide web for the 2359 part number, but have come up empty handed. I am curious what the end looked like prior to grinding. Was it just a 1/4" spinner? I also wonder why someone wanted it to look like this.

I have a few of these ratchets, but this is the first one that's marked down on the handle. Is there a specific time frame when they marked them this way? (full of questions today)

There were several I.B.M. wrenches in the bin, but this was the only one marked PROTO. I left the other smaller ones behind. One was marked JAPAN, but the others did not give any indication of who made them, or where they were made.

Thank you, Don! What a weird little tool. Too bad it's missing the chain portion. I thought that round part of the shank might have a purpose, but couldn't imagine what it would be. A chain pivot point of course! Based on that image, the tip on this one looks shortened. The wedge shape might be custom too.

Thank you for that insight/compliment. At first I thought maybe it had been reassembled wrong, with the name on the backside of the cover plate. It wasn't until I got it home and cleaned up a bit that I saw where they'd stamped it. It has to be a lot easier to stamp the flat plate than the handle's shoulder. I can see why they'd switch.

I was at Tacoma Screw yesterday and they have a wall of PROTO tool boards behind the counter. It was fun to see that the current offerings are still the same basic designs as they had back in the forties. That store would be more fun to walk around if they would put prices on their inventory. I'll shop there for fasteners, but will continue to hunt down old slightly-rusty $1 PROTO ratchets... and stuff.

That little transmission tool is begging for a new purpose. It does fit inside a 1/4" socket, but doesn't engage it very well now that it's been ground down.

Like everything else at Tacoma Screw: if you have to ask what the price is, you can't afford it. ;)

I recall paying them no less than $29 for a PROTO 1/4" drive breaker about 15 years ago.
