Good buy, Astro. You can find lots of undervalued Proto stuff if you'll watch for it.

You did good, Astro. You'll use and enjoy those tools for years to come. I have a few proto ratchets myself that I really like. If you go to get more, look at the Big Dawg versions.

The screwdrivers are stamped England on them. Are these another brand and the proto name is thrown on? They feel real solid though.

I have the same 3/4 drive that I bought used from a co-worker that left the trade.
Almost everyone else there has cheapo 3/4 drive ratchets except one SO and another Proto. The Proto has the smoothes ratcheting action of any 3/4 drive ratchet I have ever used and it is just tough, the guy I bought it from said his dad used to wrench with it so its prob pretty old as well.
Mine is not as clean as your, but I love that ratchet regardless.
Does the forum have any resident, independent, Proto dealers? Or does the forum know of any ind. Proto dealers? I have a lead on a rather large, new, Proto tool set, but would like to exchange some of it for slightly different Proto tools which better suit my needs. I'd of course make it worth the dealers while, exchanging, but also making a few outright purchases. Any leads would be appreciated.

Altho I must note that Stanley thickened up those ratchets all around. Not as svelte as the old ones.

Proto Sockets and Ratchets are quite good, you will never regret your purchase.
Personally, I think they make the best socket extensions:

- They have a clean jewelry type finish
- The retaining ball mechanism is just tensioned correctly. They release quite easily, even when your hands are greasy and slippery.
- Assorted sizes for all your needs.
IIRC some Stanley screwdrivers are/were made in England. Real Facom is made in France.

Ive been using the 3/8 set at work, and i'm impressed with it also.
Independent Proto dealer? Anyone? I'm afraid Grainger would be less than enthusiastic to exchange things for me which I didn't buy there (even if they're brand new). Hell, Grainger probably wouldn't even exchange things I had bought there.

I have a few Proto tools that I got from my Father in-law, there good stuff. I would sell both of these sets for the right price.
A couple asked about independent Proto dealers. Mack Fullbright's, in Spartanburg, SC, is a good independent tool dealer. Handles S-K, Proto, and Wright. Has some quality imports, like Gearwench. Stocks Mayhew prybars. Has Channellocks, Klein and probably some I've forgotten. Also has power and air tools.

I got a free proto prof top box for free once because the guy didn't recognize the brand name. I asked him what he wanted for it and he said "eh you can have it, its not like its a craftsman or anything" I put it in my truck and said thanks. My dad is using it as his primary box at the moment. I almost felt bad but I got over it.
I have a few Proto tools that I got from my Father in-law, there good stuff. I would sell both of these sets for the right price.
