I have an older Proto 6008 G1 torque wrench that is out of calibration. I assumed there was a simple adjustment but it turns out proto did not make things that simple. Apparently there is some sort of shim that is used to adjust it. Does anyone know how to get to that shim, for the life of me I can't figure out how to take this thing apart? I am not so much interested in calibrating it anymore I just want to know how it is put together.

Also does anyone know a place I can download the proto torque wrench instructions that come with their wrenches?

Call Proto customer service and they'll snail mail or email a copy to you.

I used to send both of my Proto torque wrenches back to Proto periodically for calibration as they recommended, until I found a local testing service who does it for about half the price.

You can also send the wrench to Proto in Georgia they also fix and calibrate. I have used both Team Torque and Proto and also Angle Repair.

Thanks for all the tips. I just did a simple test with a 30lb piece of railroad track and it looked dead on so it may not need calibration after all. I need to find a 60lb piece next.
