Proto USA made ratcheting spline wrenches

So I just had to warranty my 12mm proto USA made wrench and apparently they are discontinued but when I ask for replacement they send the black Asian made but luckily had one at Grainger but they couldn’t warranty for me from zoro even though they are the same company

Any other have issues with these USA chrome proto wrenches

@shockwave That really ***** - years back when I was shopping for ratcheting wrenches, I narrowed down my choices to the Proto and Snap-on sets (decided on Snap-on). Those USA Proto wrenches are really nice wrenches, just curious - what was the failure that needed warranty?

My issue was the spline ratcheting mechanism cracked and yes as I am not sure as these are really nice and surprisingly Mac does not offer these in there line up as my Mac dealer would sell but Stanley black and decker have very strange business policies and why I had to go to grainger

When I got my set a few years ago, the 13mm skipped in reverse right out of the box. Proto sent me a replacement via UPS, free of charge, and told me to just discard the old wrench. I took it apart to see what may have been wrong, looked like roughly finished teeth on the gear ring.

Yeah mine was about the same as the first time I used it on brakes for a Honda caliper bolt not even much torque

I like the spline ratcheting side of the black Taiwanese style, but the open end *****. They spread easier than any wrench I've ever used.

Any more info on this topic yet? After reading this I looked around and they are hard to find. Hopefully just a supply chain issue like everything else and they come back eventually in case I ever need to warranty mine.

They have discontinued the made-in-USA wrenches with the "A"suffix. The current part numbers end in B and are slightly different but still made in the USA. Fewer words stamped on the new ones and they no longer have the open end offset to one side. Also, they rounded off all the edges.

Your JSCVM12A should have been replaced with JSCVM12B but it sounds like they sent you JSCVM12.

You got ripped off. I'd give them a call.

Thanks for reminding me. i wish i had a better (larger) example but i really don't care for the new style so i've been purposely avoiding them. one nice thing, at least on this example, the ratcheting end is thinner.
