Pry bar caps?

Found a couple of small pry bars at the dollar store a while ago (steel automotive types, according to their sticker, which seemed out of place there next to things made of hollow plastic), and I was thinking of tossing one in the tool bag, but it's sharp, so I'm wondering what you might recommend to cap things like this...

I'm thinking maybe the spongy styrofoam stuff, could be at a craft store or packaging place (maybe even the dollar store).

Maybe you should go test it out on something before you really need to use it. If you're pulling small nails or tacks out of wood it will work, but really, truly prying on something with a $1 pry bar could be dangerous. Go hook it on your trailer hitch or something and give it a few good yanks. See how well it holds its shape.

Well, there are other things I'd like to cap too (like the fence pliers I just picked up), so it's kind of a general interest anyway (haven't seen caps on any pry bars).

Aha, plasti dip tool guards... just add tape underneath (upside down). Or maybe a thin layer of wax could be a release agent, if lightly heated afterward (unless simple wiggling would make that crumble inside to slip it off).

Here's one about low temperature thermoplastic edge gaurds too.

Hmm, a piece of flexible magnet strip might stick there (not that I'd try this, unless it was laying around here, I do cap my telescoping magnetic pickup tools though). It might be fun to pour plasti dip around a weak magnet so it wouldn't slip off as easily (or maybe a stronger magnet on the end with tape around that).

Piece of duct tape. Don't go long term, pretty sure they won't be sharp for long.
