Typical small Japanese crowbar configuration, but that one probably goes back to the 50s or 60s. Now they are die stamped in one piece with the joint between the dies visible all around the edges. Probably a very good tool. We all know about Japanese swords to some extend, but worth remembering their Arisaka rifles of WWII tested out as one of the strongest service rifles ever built, mostly due to skillful heat treating, so they know what to do, if they choose to do it.

From looking over some obscure Japanese tool suppliers a while back,
it looked like there are still traditional Japanese blacksmith tool makers, that “hand forge” cat paw nail pullers.
The prices were several times or more what a similar nail puller would cost from one of the higher production Japanese tool brands, who make similar nail pullers.
I have no clue whether that nail puller would have been made by an individual blacksmith or small scale tool manufacturer, or a larger manufacturer.
Another issue is that Japanese tools that get sold in the USA are sometimes rebranded by a single Japanese tool brand or importer, that didn’t actual manufacture the particular item.
(On the plus side for this, these import brands generally don’t import really low quality items that exist for the Japanese home market)

That’s a big house cat!
The cats around here seem to have rounded ears.

Video was a few hundred yards uphill from here.

Neighbor had one at her sliding door two nights ago. 😳
That’s a big house cat!!

I would say it is STS based on this set of Japanese snips I plucked off a dollar table. The STS logo is missing the rat face though. Seem to be pretty well made. Ed.
