hey guy's ive been thinking of upgrading my pry bars and moving my 20 dollar northern tool set to the home garage as i also seem to be in great need of them at home........................ so it really only boils down to a few choices for me at this moment and those choice's are snap on and mayhem, with one execption, and that would be an otc kit http://www.amazon.com/dp/B000F5EDLW/?tag=atomicindus08-20

so there is that and the other sets im looking at are

or snap on

in addition to these set's im also looking to pick up a 42" and a 52-60"
pry bar......

so what would ya'll do if you were in my shoe's looking to get a full set of new pry bar's, im pretty set on either mayhew or SO, but if the otc kit is good then i suppose i could be all for it just have no experince with the brand

I've got snapons and matcos which are rebranded mayhew. Quality is pretty much the same between the 2 of them. Of course with the snapon you have the truck show up to your door for warranty, and I have broken 2.

We don't actually have a snapon driver, which is the only reason for my switch over to the matco/mayhew bars. You really can't go wrong either way if you can get the mayhews warrantied.

I was in the same boat last year, ended up going for the Snap-on pry bars. I really like the handles over Mayhew, the bars are very nice. I got so excited about how bad *** that set is I grabbed one of these for when "it gets real"

This this is a bit over the top, but you can seriously move a car with it.

The crown hadles do feel a bit more substantial in your hand, but the standard hard handles feel comfortable for the average job.

I suggest trying out the handles for yourself, Sears carries the Mayhews and SO trucks are all over the place. Just be carefully entering that SO truck, one never knows what you could leave with.

Yeah I'm thinking I might get a full selection of snappier since the smaller crown tops are so beefy

I have the first generation Snappies, and am very impressed. I'm the original purchaser, and have used them for years-never abused...well, not much! ;) Never had to warrant them, if I needed a bigger bar-I used a bigger bar.

Can't comment on the Mayhew's, they look good, but I've just not needed to replace any of the ones I have, and I have the same set at work-plus some bigger Klines (which I have bent-then straightened), an OTC that has lasted through some tough work, and so on.

Got to have a good selection of bars & punches! Used a bunch for the last two days!

Love my mayhew Dominator. Can't imagine anything being so much better as to make the cost worth it. I don't use it professionally though.
