Yep, Sears has been selling them a long time. They say the 6 point tools are stronger when working on hex head fasteners. Sears has been selling a set of Craftsman Industrial 6 point wrenches lately also. I have a set of Craftsman Industrial 6 point wrenches.

Sometimes you have to rotate the wrench farther in order for the 6 point box end to align with the fastener. That can be frustrating when you don't have much room to turn a wrench. If you have plenty of clearance to turn a wrench then they work good. Otherwise you might want to use a 12 point wrench or something else. A person who has to have at least one of every kind of tool would probably buy them.

Six point wrenches are great for situations when only a wrench will fit, you don't need a 12-pt to get an angle on the fastener in the first place, and you're REALLY going to have to use a lot of force to break something loose.

I've broken a six point Proto wrench or two using a cheater pipe on something big and rusty, but I haven't rounded a bolt off like the 12 point would likely do instead. ;)

(Then you go get a coworkers wrench that same size and try again until you succeed, and turn in all of the failed wrenches for replacment!)

I'm joking. Mostly.
