I had some replaced within 2 weeks of online form submission. This was about 3 weeks ago. This is my second group of submissions.

I don't know why some must wait for months to get a replacement.

Anyone still waiting on their replacements?

When the recall first appeared in November 2017 I submitted two requests (home and work). The home request was fulfilled quickly and the work request seemed to be forgotten.

Today at work I received a followup email from Kidde asking if I had received the replacements. I said they only shipped one of my two requests. They verified my shipping address and I have my fingers crossed. :)

Hi cdeer, I submitted for 3 in 11/17 and only received 1 - see my prior posts here on the run around. I have also found 2 others since then. But it seems, based on my experience, a waste of time - especially to get a questionable safety product. But between your post and the recent Home Depot radio commercials I am now reminded again to contact them.

All mine have been shipped to me. I think I've received at least a dozen, some bigger than the one it replaced.

Weird that some haven't received the replacements after months of waiting!
I got two sets of replacement extinguishers and I know of others that got multiple replacements as well!

I replaced 3 of them. I received them in less than a couple weeks but that was back in February. Just sent the old ones back earlier this week. Pretty painless for me.

Probably so overwhelmed that their server crashed and they lost peoples information....that would be my luck.

I received my 10 months ago, but I did have to call, twice.

They had my address wrong both times, and the address has to be in a strictly correct format or they won’t be delivered. The fact that they are classified as hazardous or whatever causes the rules to be stricter than normal.

Yea. Have to call the Fedex to come pick them up. Yea, was told 4 different times they would be here. Never showed. Finally said screw it, discharged the extingishers then tossed them out for the scrappers.

I had two recalled units.

Put in a claim in November 2017

Received one in April 2018

Called today. They will send the second unit next week.

How to take a bad thing- namely a recall- and instead of turning it into an opportunity to show how much a company cares about your safety, instead they display gross incompetence.

One of the nations largest defense contractors. Im guessing they arent sweating how we feel about them....

Ordered two replacements in January. Got a phone call from Kidde a few weeks ago. They asked me a couple questions, sent one replacement out to me. No sign of the other, been another month now.

So, nearly five months to receive one. No sign of the other.

My thanks to cdeer. He sent me the name and email address of a rep for Kidde. FWIW, this person works for Kidde via a temp agency. I received a message back saying my request had been (re)processed. Yesterday I received the 2 missing extinguishers - same size as the originals. I opened them this AM and found that there is no return label. My guess is they figured out it isn't worth the time and expense of taking them back.

Between the home and shop, submitted (on line) the return of 8 starting in November & early December last year. Got all the replacements back by the end of December.

I figured anyone who delayed submitting for replacements was going to be left holding the **** stick soon. Kidde can't fulfill the orders or they will just pull the bankruptcy cord and not have to do anything.

The way Kidde ran this recall is the classic example of how not to run a recall campaign. These stupid bastards deserve to go under:thumbup:

I have 13 I think.
I sent for one exchange(it came within a week).
I read the entire recall, weighed the case, the claim, the failures per MILLION units, and decided I didn't need to swap them out.
I don't ride at the expense of others, and I just don't see the threat.
I'll not beat them for new stuff just for the joy of new stuff.

This may be entirely contrary.
I also didn't punish harbor freight because I can't figure out how retail works.

I went online on June 9 this year and put in a request for two with plastic handles. They both arrived on June 19. Ten days. Most of my others came in about the same time frame. I was hoping to catch the FedEx guy when he dropped them off, as I had tape ready to send them back with him. I called FedEx that night, and he picked them up the next day.

I got tired of the run around, no I don't have the date code. no I don't have the receipt. So I took them down to the shooting range and shot them. pretty white powder. kinda fun.

Some of them didn't have a date code, and I never had a receipt for any of the at least dozen I turned in. It goes into detail online what you need to do. I didn't call for any of them.

Had one of mine recalled. Did the website thing June 2018. It was a bit of a pain to enter the serial number. Had a new one in 2 weeks and sent the old one back for free. Easy, just took 30 min total probably.

I just received a letter from Kidde yesterday saying that a unit they had supplied to me during a 2015 recall is now being recalled.

About a month ago, I stumbled on Kidde's email stating that my replacement unit would be arriving soon. Since the email was about a year old and I had never received it, I called them. My replacement unit finally arrived yesterday.

Could be worse. The pwc fire extinguishers I need replaced no longer fit in the extinguisher compartments...
