Pseudo Terrazzo -- anyone try being creative

I'm in the process of planning my 35 x 40 detached garage. The floor will be radiant heat, powered by the house boiler via bored insulated pipe.

I'm considering my finish options. I've always loved terrazzo (call me vintage) but I'd hate to add another layer of cost and reduced durability on top of the concrete. My thought was to add some color to the concrete, and maybe some interesting stone in the aggregate, and then have a quarter inch shaved off the floor terrazzo style before a clear sealer with grit. Anyone considered an option like this?

Seems like the only added cost are the color in the cement, any interesting aggregate, and the shaving of the floor.

I also wonder how fibermesh might show in such a scheme.

Thanks,
Phil

Do a search for 'polished concrete' on this site and google. There are some threads here with good pics, a step by step during the process, and other details.

Polished concrete definately has the terrazzo look and feel.

Thanks -
