Anyone recognize this stuff or know what it would be used for? It feels a whole lot like thread tape so I’m pretty sure it’s PTFE but it’s 3/4” wide and about 3/8” thick with an adhesive on one side. IMG_0317.jpg IMG_0318.jpg

Is it sealant tape for metal roof panels? I can't see what kind of roll it is on.

Don't ask.
Some type of glide for something to slide on. I used similar (but not teflon or nearly that thick) for wood drawers in a wood cabinet.

I thought maybe packing material for steam, but the sticky strip doesn't make sense for that.

It's a 30' roll on a plastic spool. feels exactly like thread tape but just massive.

I’ve seen it being used in slides in industrial applications.

It's not hard like UHMW or Delrin.

IMHO, TEFLON is a brand name for the material known as TEFLON. Very similar to all individuality packed self adhesive dressings being called Band-Aids, or all copiers called XEROX Machines.

gore tape - we use it industrially for all kinds of gaskets, but mostly on ductwork access doors. it has a wide temperature range, and good for sealing uneven surfaces.

We're only allowed to use spiral wound, grafoil or garlock blue depending on what process. I've never run in to this stuff, my guess is someone ordered it accidently and never returned it.

I agree; Gore tape. We used to use a ton of it, but probably not as much any more. It's great when your flange faces are all chewed up. Or in the case of ductwork like mentioned, it works when the flange is too weak to compress anything hard.
