I think that it was really generous of those contractors to provide you with some fun projects to do.
You would just be bored if you didn't have the opportunity to fix all their screw ups.

Let her go full force on the contractor.I renamed the two guys that did most of the work Cheech and Chong. One big tall skinny Anglo and a short stocky Mexican. Total Stoners. Almost competent in the AM, completely Incompetent in the PM. They installed cultured stone on two decorative columns one Friday, I tore it all out on Sunday. Hired my landscaper to do it the second time, turned out great. Spa top slabs were installed an inch too high, so we had to add a border around the inside and outside to fill the gap. I ended up profiling the 25 2" limestone slabs myself because it was obvious they were going to screw that up, too. Took me 16 hours of grinding and polishing.
They cut the spillway slab an inch too short. Installed it anyway. Contractor sent another guy to tear it out and re-do it. Took him four days, I ended up grouting the spillway myself because we have grandkids here this week for Easter and we needed to get the pool operational.
I wasn't here when the tile guy did his magic. Installed and grouted before I had a chance to look at it.
3 week paver and tile project is now on week 9.
And still not finished. Contractor called and asked if he could stop by this week for final payment since the pool is back in service.
Sent him photos of the tile and a few other issues. ( Like a duck pond on the new travertine pavers because they missed the slope to drain on one side of the pool. Wasn't obvious until it rained.
We're going to have a "site conference" next week.
I am looking forward to it. My bride may need to self-medicate before the meeting.
Good news is he thinks we still owe him 10%. He hasn't seen our receipts for replacement stone, tile, rework labor, etc. yet.
Scott, on many occasions I have threatened to bring Liane to the negotiating table. Just the threat ("She'll rip your arm off") has saved me a fortune."Hell hath no fury..."
I’ve got a friend who’s wife is a mean red headed menopausal lawyer. He threatens to let her handle some situations and that usually fixes it."Hell hath no fury..."

Not crack, probably psychedelics!

Which powdercoater? Section8?Got the Trex on the bench today. I wanted different colors, textures, etc. I had a few samples we purchased last summer when we were trying to figure out what to use on the decks at the cabin, so I used all four types on this bench.
Of course, they were all different thickness.... so the thicker ones had to be rabbeted to finish out flush with the top.
After I fitted and drilled the Trex and the bench I stripped it all down and took the bench frame over to the powder coater.
That was interesting the guy had at least (20) 1960's Ford Trucks in the lot. I mentioned @TimeWarpF100's Raptor build, he immediately knew who I was talking about. "That's Randy up in Cave Creek..." Small world.

Surprised he knew of my truck.Tomahawk Powder Coating in Apache Junction. He does all the faux rust coating for Old West Welding, he is going to run it with their next order.

Well done PugetThe powder coater called and said the bench was ready. (2 day turnaround.) I elected to powder coat the bench frame so no one gets rust on their clothing when they sit on it. The basket is going to get genuine rust,. Continuing with the rusty theme because our community entrance gates are naturally weathered steel. (We refer to our little community as the rusty gates, the swanky Country Club next door is the pearly gates.
)
Got the Trex installed with 10-24 stainless carriage bolts and dragged the parts out to the island. I poured a couple of small concrete pads to anchor it earlier this week, so I was able to set it in place this afternoon.
Still need to anchor it down on both ends, fill the basket with rocks, and spray the bare metal with my "magic instant rusterizer" (vinegar, salt and hydrogen peroxide). The textured concrete top gets bolted on with a couple of 1/4" carriage bolts after the basket is filled. I may put a dab of bondo under each corner to keep it from shifting around.
Finished pics of the bench tomorrow. One little travertine tile project to wrap up on the patio remodel then hopefully I can get back on the '32 for a while.
