I have a closet with a pull chain type light mounted to the ceiling, which I would like to change to a motion sensor. Hoping to do this without cutting any drywall. Any good tips?

I was suprised not to find any decorative light fixtures with motion sensors built in. I do not need anything too fancy, just better than the light bulb socket motion sensors, leaving me an exposed bulb. To reference, this is the fixture I have been installing in other closets and rooms (which have wall switches). link

Thanks!

If the lights you are installing, which you referenced, have a wall switch, couldn't you change the wall switch to one with a motion sensor? Just a thought and you wouldn't need to cut any more drywall, just replace the switch.

What I meant was all of my other closets have switches, but not this pantry. This pantry has only the light with pull chain.

 Brilliant concept, so the light in the cr@pper comes on when a motion is detected?

Does it stay on long enough to verify the paperwork has been properly processed?

A exposed lamp is not permitted in a closet, if it has a edison base it does not matter if you intend to use a CFL or LED lamp, it is still a incandescent fixture, track lights, motion lights made for use w/ PAR lamps are not OK either. Perhaps a fluorescent wrap around or enclosed LED fixture, & fish a line in the wall for a motion sensing switch.
