Running 12gauge for outlets in Pole Barn. Looking for advice on best way to handle getting past this corner 6x6 support as adding outlets to walls on both sides of corner.
Doesn't seem like a good idea to run behind on outside of 6x6. Is it acceptable to bore hole in 6x6 and pull through?

I would not drill a post & never have been keen on NM "Romex®" cable in a pole barn. Much rather use Metal Clad, MC, or pipe, with a little pre planning PVC could have been stubbed up between posts making the need or desire to drill posts moot.

Go up to the ceiling, around the post and back down.

Or, drill a 5/8 hole in the center of the post the carefully pull the wire through.

Easiest solution is the first one.

Depends on code in your area but when I wired my pole barn I was able to just go across the front of the post but I was also 16' up.

Ran line around back of post and used a metal plate to avoid any potential nails coming through the siding.
Thinking that was the best solution for the situation.

With wood siding, why is there a gap around the post?

Your sheathing should be nailed to the post or to a trimmer nailed to the post, yes?

It depends on what your AHJ will say. If the wire is at man height (under say 6'-8') it may need protection. Conduit or behind wood or finished wall.

I ran mine up the side of the post and around the post on the trusses and came back down at the next post. 90% of my wiring is above the ceiling.

I ran mine around the post at the same level. Metal siding, there's nothing really to worry about if you are covering the purlins outside with something and the interior is finished too. Code just says it has to be protected from harm.
