I was in Northern Tool and saw they have the Puma 60 gallon 3HP compressor on sale for $429. I thought this was a great deal, and then I got emailed a coupon for $50 off $250. This will put the compressor out the door at about $415.

Can you post a picture of your $50 off $250 coupon? Their coupons aren't user specific and the code is not unique, but my local store likes to see a coupon (printed or the actual coupon) rather than a code I write down.

This is IN FACT a KILLER DEAL folks. For those who have been saving for a decent compressor and don't have the $ for a 2 stage unit, this is as good a deal on a quality product you will ever get.

I had been waiting for over a year for this deal to come around again. If i had not stumbled across my quincy compressor that i won on an auction site not long ago, i would be buying this compressor IMMEDIATELY. Even without breeaad's coupon, its a great deal. With his coupon if he posts it, a screaming deal.

From the countless hours of research i spent, for a single stage 60 gallon compressor, this IS IT gentlemen.

I dunno what else to say other than BUY IT.

I just bought this today. The store told me that it is not on the website anymore because they are going to stop carrying the Puma single stage because they have a house brand now (Northern Star). The sale ends 3/14, and my store only had 2 left. I will post a pic of the coupon.

With the coupon, it was $423 and that included a quart of oil I bought for the first oil change. As a comparison, this compressor is $699 on aircompressorsdirect.com right now.

Interesting... a year or so back they had a Northstar 60 gallon 3HP on their site and it disappeared. I assumed that they were getting rid of it for the Puma. It hasn't been on their site until recently (probably about the time the Puma disappeared). I didn't really plan to spend $400 right now but I've wanted this compressor for a while and this is a GREAT price.

Curious, I wonder how these compare to the 60 gallon 3HP husky,CH, etc compressors sold at HD and Lowes

I can't speak from experience, but in my research I did find some negative reviews on Kobalt, Husky, and CH. But I couldn't find any on the Puma. As a matter of fact, I believe there is a thread ON GJ asking which compressor is best, and Puma was favored. I do believe the Husky is on sale right now also for $449, and 10% coupons can be found, making it a good deal as well. But my research lead me to the Puma for a single stage.

Fair... I have found the same info over the past year and had settled on the Puma but had planned on waiting. With NT discontinuing, I will have to push it to the top of my purchase list. I figure with the price, size, and specs being similar, they are all probably made by the same people.

Either way, this is a great deal and I appreciate you posting it!

This makes me sad that I did not see it. I've had my eye on this compressor for a long time, just didn't have the money or a huge need for it.

But I had decided that when I was going to buy one, it was going to be this one, and now it seems its gone.

What a shame.

I got the 20 gallon 2hp upright a couple years back, been great for me, it was around 400 dollars at the time so I think this is a great deal

even more impressive was the guy who took it off the shelf for me. I stand 6' about 220lbs not huge but not tiny either. This dude was prolly over 6' 8", its on a shelf way over my head. The dude curls it and brings it over his head before setting it on the cart. Team lift my ***. That was a very large man, said he use to be a body guard for Destiny's Child, this was in Houston and he was big enough he wasn't gonna get an argument outta me.

anyway, moral of the stories is this is a pretty solid deal!!

+1 on the killer deal description. I bought one of these about a year ago for around $430 with a coupon and a sale. I waited a looong time for it to go on sale. I've been very pleased with this compressor.

All sold out in Houston.... Maybe next time.

I would call around. I visited the store in the Dallas area today and they were out of stock. They told me to call another store and I found one. It is on hold and I'm picking it up tonight. When he looked it up to check other store's inventory, I believe the Houston NW store had a few.

Is this deal in stores only?

Yes, they are clearancing them out and replacing them with Northstar. When talking with the employee today, he said they put them on sale last week and they went fast, so hurry before they are gone if you want one!

Where did you find one? Looks nice. I've had a hell of a time convincing myself/wife that I need this right now. We plan to move in the next year or 2 and this is just another 300lb large item I will have to move. I wanted to wait but I can't walk away from this deal. Going today to pick mine up (have it on hold).

I went to the Houston NW store. This was the last one on the floor, but I saw one on a shelf in the back with someone's name on it when I went around to get this one loaded.

I just got lucky and found a used one of these compressors in good shape for 200 bucks. I was about to check our Northern Tool for this sale right before I found it.

Brought mine home this evening! Now to find space in my 2 car garage for it. I think it's time I build a lean to so that my lawn equipment and extra "household" items are out of my garage!

FYI, the store in Lewisville, TX has 2 left.

Paid for mine on Sat. $407 out the door using $50 off and picked up today. Store had two and the other was still there today. I went to get a water hose reel and took a quick look because of this thread. Was saving for a Quincy... oh well. This one is blue, and heck of a lot cheaper for now. Thanks for the thread. I think this is definitely better than the equivalent kobalt, husky or CH. I think there are still some out there if your looking.

Curious how you bought on Sat and picked up today. They wouldn't let me pay over the phone.
