^^ What is that milling machine? I thought I knew my mills, but I have never seen one like that. Having the head travel on ways like a box way drill press is an interesting idea (esp. since the spindle drive appears to be fixed at the top!) -- how do you like it vs. a traditional z-axis?

It actually looks sortof like a jig bore, except for the head shape/drive arrangement.

Taiwanese clone of a Vernon jig borer turned into a vertical mill from the 70s and 80s prior to Rong Fu round column mill drills becoming popular. You can see a smaller version at the bottom of this page.

I can't complain given what I pad for it. Not as convenient as a square column gear head mill as the head can't tilt. But with a 2hp motor it is fairly powerful. I'll get by till I can afford a turret style mill.
