No power needed. A simple keyhole/drywall saw has become my go to tool for carving.

I'm in for some cool pumpkin carving pics...........

Last one I carved was 3 years ago, it looked the same as my first one I did when I was 4. No skills.

Finished our a little while ago. We used a Dremel with a ceramic tile cutting bit. Worked great.

Did this a couple years ago, put a piece of cardboard on the dremel to act as a guard and it worked great!

Think you have just killed a thread. Lol. Its kind of like showing a thread of diy and Michaelangelo pops up showing pics of his ceiling:thumbup:

I use long jigsaw and nipped down scroll saw blades that are slammed into small wood countersink handles in the vise.
Think baby drywall hand saws but really thin and good for tight curves.

Work like a champ.

Finding a GOOD big metal commercial pot spoon to scoop the pumkin wall thin enough to carve is the tougher one to source. Taking the edge to a grinder to make "v"s and serrate the spoon leading edge is better once ya find one.
Trust me.
Even the best high end nylon and plastic kitchen spoons cannot take the torque and break due to flex when scraping the walls. BTDT x a decade.

Boo!

:)

My wife used the RotoZip.

This year's pumpkin had warts and an unusually tough skin.

It laughed at her usual pumpkin carving knifes.

RotoZip to the rescue!

Sorry I really didn't mean to come off as an *** I just really get into Halloween and the pumpkin carving took off when my son was younger. Every year we have a bunch of kids come over and carve pumpkins. It's awesome watching them pick out a pattern then transfer it to the pumpkin and carve it out. The look on their faces when we light the candles and they see what they made is priceless!
