The proto punches look to be great. I use all sorts of punches all the time as a hobbyist but hardly ever chisels. What do you guys use chisels for?
Almost never the intended use... Wedges, striking scraper for rust scale, and breaking off the odd bolt head. Oh, and those locking tang washers used on class 8 truck axle spindle nuts.
Few reasons. First, I wanted one large set that had pretty much all I needed. The 26 piece Proto set had this. From there, I was looking for top quality. The Mayhew 150 series seems to be their best, but I could only find it in a smaller set that I would have had to supplement. Finally, the folks who posted here are very fond of their Proto stuff and I don't have any Proto tools, so figured this was a good time to start.
Thanks
Scott
