Like most of you, I feel compelled to buy new tools all the time. I currently have an older model Ingersoll Rand 3/8'' impact, but it does lack some power compared to many of the new models.

So, I purchased a new Snap On MG31. I debated between the IR 2115TIMAX or the Snap On, but it came down to the fact that I got a great deal on the Snap On. :)

Do you mind if I ask what the price difference would be between your MG31 and the IR mentioned.

This has been a big help to me. I am looking for a new impact and can not decide between AirCat , Snap On or IR. I have a snap on now and it has worked 5 and 6 days a week.

I have one, been using it for about a year. I rarely ever pull out my IR 1/2 impact. I love the IM31, one of the best tool purchases I have made on the Snap-on truck.

EDIT: OOPS, I mean MG31, I do not have the older Im31. I dont think the IM31 is anywhere near the same tool.

The cost difference between the two impacts on the street market is marginal at best. I think they both sell new in the 250-300 range. I paid substantially less than that, but even with cost as a non-factor I viewed the Snap On to be a better impact. But, you can't go wrong with either. I really love my IR 2135Ti 1/2" impact.

I tried it out on few things tonight and this sucker sure is nice. Very light, easy to handle and has great power. Like a poster above said, I probably won't need to touch my 1/2" stuff for much.

I now own all three brands you have mentioned, and honestly they are all great in their own way. I don't think there really is a "loser" in that bunch, but I do like this Snap On 3/8" MG31... a quality purchase :)

Not to mention, I like to stick with "tried and true" products as well, and if the Snap On you have now has been very reliable, you can't go wrong continuing on with them.

Got a couple of questions for you MG31 owners:
how "featherable" is the trigger? how loud is it? does the power selector work in farward and reverse, I ask because the IR Ti guns bypass the regulator in reverse.

the trigger is very touchy .... a good thing the only thing i dont like about this gun is the forward /reverse is above trigger .... i am always bumping that in the wrong direction = loss of power
