Hello All,

I'm planning to purchase an 18'x9' garage door for my steel building. Trying to find prices online is next-to-impossible, other than RollUpDoorsDirect.com. Looking at their technical specs, I think they sell "Janus" brand doors.

Through my research I've seen Janus, Amarr, Clopay, ASTA, and maybe a few more; I called a local installer and they recommended staying away from Janus, citing poor quality / plastic parts used in some areas of hoisting mechanisms, versus metal ("the way it used to be"). Not sure if it's coincidence, but none of the quotes that I've received from local installers have quoted Janus doors.

I haven't decided on sectional versus roll-up door (the building should be able to handle either one). I'm just curious if anyone who's purchased larger doors in the last few years has any brand-specific experience that they'd care to share. Thanks!

Carriage House carport entryways are accessible in a wide exhibit of stained and painted wraps up. A decorated wood-grain surface catches the vibe of an exemplary carriage house entryway.

I have had the overhead sectional door replaced with a roll up door. I will never have a sectional door again.
The roll up doors ive seen aren't well sealed or insulated.
Very uncommon around here, I'd guess because of that.

@DaveInTX what did you finally go with?

I ended up buying sectional doors, the (Amarr Lincoln) through a local installer - they've got the "residential" look (which matches the doors on our house), but all of the hardware is more "commercial grade", so it'll be more durable than my standard garage door.

I haven't installed openers yet, but the doors are well balanced can be easily opened/closed quickly by hand with minimal effort. Overall, very happy that I went with the sectional door.
