Purchasing/Transporting Used Scissors Lift 2 Hours Away

I've been shopping for a scissors lift and decided on the Atlas 7k Kwik Bay. There happens to be a used one available 2 hours away from me, but I'm not sure if I can come up with a reasonable way to get it. I don't think the seller has any equipment to help load it, and I don't own a truck/trailer/etc., so my possible options are either renting what I need or paying someone to transport it. From what I've read (and the seller recommends), a flatbed tow truck is the best option, but that's not practical from his place to mine. If I buy new, I'd probably be hiring a flatbed to move it from the freight facility to my place, as I also don't have equipment and it's uphill from the street to my garage. Any suggestions?

Rent a truck with a liftgate. I think Ryder or Penske have them.

You need more friends :) with trucks, etc.

I would not trust anyone on uship to do anything other than drive the truck from A to B. Some have trouble even doing that.

What I'd recommend is a couple of 4 wheel moving dollys, as suggested, rent the appropriate sized U-Move rental truck with a ramp and go get it.

I can speak from experience here. I have this lift and it weighs 1200 lbs and is roughly 6' square. Get the flat bed tow truck. They have the winch to pull it on to the truck and the tilt bed lets it slide right off into your garage door. 2 hours of tow truck time is a few hundred dollars well spent.

I have moved mine twice. Once when I bought it second hand 200 miles from my house. I used a ramp truck for this move and it was pretty easy.

The second time was when I moved house. I used my enclosed motorcycle trailer and was able to roll it on and off myself, albeit with substantial effort and some cursing. Wasn't that bad.

Do you have any way of towing a trailer? If you shopped right a 5' wide trailer wouldn't cost a lot more than a 4hr flatbed tow. I got a GSE mid rise and it easily fit on my trailer. If I didn't have the trailer I would be lost.

Thanks for the feedback.

As for the lift itself, he says $1500 firm in the listing. Says it was in a shop that he closed and is two years old. Also comes with the support bars (which I don't currently have a need for). New is $2300, plus $350 for the bars (although I don't see the bar adapters in his pics). I'm thinking more like $1200-1300. Any feedback on price, or anything in the pics I should be concerned with?

It looks like it's had a fair amount of use in 2 years. The guy's shop is a pig sty. You would think someone selling something would clean up and make the product presentable in pictures?

I wouldn't give more than $1000. Frankly, I'd buy new.

Looking at the pics, I'd guess more like it's not a shop. He probably bought it used, never used it and needs the money and trying to make some while selling it.

Thanks again for the feedback everyone. I think I'm gonna pass on this one. The lift is just south of Indy and still listed on Craigslist if anyone else is interested.
