Won't work now, gas was on .25 a gallon when that was made, it would roll over in its box if it knew the gas was 4.99 a gallon you were trying to use. Good find.

Won't work now, gas was on .25 a gallon when that was made, it would roll over in its box if it knew the gas was 4.99 a gallon you were trying to use. Good find.

I'll have it lit soon.
The pump and checkvalve work fine, I just need to replace some O-rings.

Right on both accounts
But this torch calls for "white gas"

The same stuff as "Coleman fuel"

Regular gasoline works fine to though.

What that has to do with one from WWII was the big-*** words "Signal Corps U.S. Army" printed on it, I just don't know


I happen to like old military stuff, so this torch is quite a find for me.

I traded some tools for one of Kirbot's restored gasoline torches. I was terrified the first time I lit it up, but after a few times I freaking love using it.

Propane is just as scary if you really think about it... drop it and crack the valve off and you're in big trouble. We're just used to propane so it doesn't seem as dangerous.

These gas torches also get a LOT hotter than your typical propane torch. My wife left her teakettle on our electric stove a few months ago melting it to the burner. After 20 min with a propane torch, it was still stuck. I fired up the gasoline torch and it was free after 2 minutes.

Actually marshmellows burn really vigorously. There quite impressive to watch

My point is just that propane is under a lot more pressure than the gasoline in these torches. And propane is also a lot more explosive.

You talk of exploding coleman stoves, but there are plenty of cases of exploding propane stoves/tanks to.

I don't get to sharpen them as often as I would like to, but....
I generally try to keep them sharp enough to shave with.
