purlins for metal roof

What should I use for fasteners for purlins to trusses, regular straight shank framing nails out of a gun? ring shank? screws?. building is 32x40 trusses are 2 foot on center purlins are 2 foot on center and laid flat. any suggestions are welcome

Here in Northern VA, hurricane winds aren't too common, so I just went with ring shank and a few judiciously placed Simpson Strong Ties. I suspect it's even less of a concern in NH, though winter winds might be an issue for you.

Ring shank nails, nailed at a angle to make a X with nails.

I used 16d nails on my 2x4 purlins on our barn with 3 nails each connection to truss.

If I had to to again, I'd use the wood screws, but I'm in Florida and we do have wind.
