I rebuilt my FLF80 and noticed it had considerably more drag.
I took it apart and compared parts. The old shim had bent with use to the point of being relatively flat. The new one was a prominent "M" shape.
Rather than try and bend my new one, I experimented with removing it. With the shim removed the ratchets drag is better than it ever was. The selector moved back and forth smoother but retains its positive engagement feel.
So...should I just leave it out?
