Purpose of these wrenches?

I came across I couple of odd SAE wrenches. Sizes I've never before seen and was wondering if they are just supposed to be fractional replacements for a metric size or if they we're made for something specific

I believe they were used on old Ford's from the 30's/40's.

When those were made we (USA) hadn't yet knuckled under to the fad of "metric."

Older standardized sizes.
When new standards were agreed upon, there was obviously lots of existing fasteners that needed to be wrenched.
U.S.S. standard included:
5/16" == 19/32
7/16" == 25/32
9/16 == 31/32
And, as noted, #8 == 11/32
Its a big world out there.
