Push mower storage

I kept tripping over the mower in the garage, so I saved a spot when building the workbench and cabinet. It also helps to keep things tidy in the garage since I tend to not put things back where they belong. Now I have no reason not to.

Just the other day, I built a little cave for my mowers. I have 4 foot wide commercial grade walk behind, and your run of the mill 21 inch craftsman push mower, so between the two, they use up about 6 feet of width, and probably about that much in depth... but barely any height.

My other problem is that kids stuff (slip and slides, trikes, hockey nets etc.) invade my hard earned garage space.

So I built a loft about 3.5 feet high, by 6 feet wide, by about 4 feet deep, and the mowers park right under it. Only the handles of the mowers stick out.

And the wife and kids think I did it for them

I've tried that, but unfortunately, my mower doesn't fold up that small and the handle wants to keep popping back up. I thought about trying to put a bungee cord across it to keep it compact. Any other suggestions?

IMO, lawn tools belong in a shed, not the garage.

None of those yard tools are allowed in the garage! I built a small shed out back that's attached to the garage's rear wall for them.

Our HOA rules don't permit sheds; but they allow play houses!

Guess what I keep in my kids play house? Garden tools, including, lawn mower, snow blower.

Check, maybe your HOA allows play sheds er.. houses.

My HOA doesn't allow anytime of structure to be built in the yard - shed, trash can enclosure, fence, playhouse, etc. Only fences allowed are the ones originally installed by the developer. They do allow the plastic storage boxes that Rubbermaid and a few other companies make which would be nice for yard tools, flower pots, and that sort of thing but there isn't enough space on my patio for one.

I'll probably end with something similar to what the OP did when I buy a snowblower this year. I can see that type of arrangement working well for a wheelbarrow, pressure washer, shop vac, portable air compressor or anything else that's bulky and on wheels that you want stored out of the way.

I have mine stored folded also. I'm thinking of putting it on a dolley so I could put in parallel against the wall. I too have a problem building a shed with my HOA.

Be sure and sand off a bunch of the paint and chrome off the handles to allow surface rust, and the HOA will think twice about blocking your shed building dreams Might keep the thieves off it too

Funny how HOAs have run amok. They used to be there to help protect the members interests...now they're just money making schemes, for developers, designed to allow a few petty people to dictate how the world looks and acts. Everyone must live in a Beige box, march to the beat of the same drum, drive the same car, and have the same landscaping.

For people with HOA's that don't allow sheds or other buildings - do they allow RV parking on the side of your house? How about a small enclosed utility trailer that you use as shed/storage building?

x2... or 3,4,5??? idk. i got 3 sheds in my yard. 1 of them is mine (which i redesigned myself, maybe i should put up some pics?) 1 stores push lawn mower and snowblower, 1 stores riding mower and weedeater, and the other one which is mine stores my snowmobile and my bicycles and then some since it's an 8x10.

i also am not supposed to be able to have my big shed in my yard but screw the town rules. if they want it gone they can come and move it

I have a 16ft shed to keep all my lawn **** in. Thank goodness..No way I could fit it all in the garage with all the other car/motorcycle junk.

Mine stays outside on the side of the house. I throw a tarp on it and call it a day. It looks like **** but still cuts (it is a push mower). I live in a suburban lot and dont have a lot of lawn and frankly dont have a lot of room to store it. I do have a small tool shed for rakes, shovels etc..but it wont hold the mower.
