pushrod tube swaging tool

I need to install these

in this (top 4 holes on the head)

would something like this work?

Are they a press fit into the head, or are you trying to make them into a press fit?

they are press fit, slightly tapered and installed from only one side. the manual says to expand the tube slightly where it contacts the head to seal it.

OTC made a special tool for it about 70 years ago, good luck finding one. I doubt any of the techs at the local JD dealer have ever seen one let alone have one in their box.

Shouldn't be to hard to make even without a lathe.

we had a tool at work that had like a couple of long roller bearings loose on the outside and a tapered rod in the center that you would turn and expand the tube. they were used for small boiler tubes.

Did you ever find the tools?
I'm in the market for at least the dimensions of the swage/insert Tool.
I've got 4 heads to do.

My 1941 John Deere B is gone, I don't think I ever did find the tool. That was 5 years ago. I remember installing the pushrod tubes with a bushing driver after having the head skimmed and I still had oil in the antifreeze or antifreeze in the oil.
