putting a lift outside?

hey guys my garage wont support a lift. it has laminate flooring and the rafters are too short. i have read about the maxjax i guess i just don't really understand why i would pay that money for a lift that goes three feet as apposed to six feet. the only problem is either one will have to go in my rv access.what are my best options for a lift that will be outside?

I would think if you want a lift that will go "outside" you should at least consider putting a shed roof over it. possibly a prefab carport type shelter, one of the extra tall ones for an RV would work well. I really would not want the lift exposed directly to the elements, the tracks or channels the sliders run in would rust, as would other components that you cannot keep painted.

Guys do it all the time down here in FLA. But a tall roof of some sort would be nice.

Seen some outside next to service station down in NC. No reason you couldn't.

I am in north Illinois.
2 miles from Wisconsin.
Every day I drive by one outside.
On the north side of the building no less.
I have seen it in use when there is snow on the ground.

Had an old electric cable type lift at our family service station that was used 40+ years. Worked on a ton of cars on that thing in the day. Back when we used the drained oil for weed control, to help seal the asphalt shingle tab driveway, etc.

I don't think it would be problem. There is a radiator and muffler shop her in Seattle that has one outside for the last twenty years still in service.
