Seems reasonable.

I would be sure to find "full locking" casters, they lock both the rotation of the wheel and the 360 swiveling action. Likely better then putting on some over engineered brake system.

Here's how I made my Grandfathers 1950's era DeWalt Radial Arm Saw mobile. The tool base is a nearly new Craftsman unit, which is surprisingly sturdy and well made.

Casters on the back only, with slide out arms made from galvanized pipe.

Low buck but effective.

Hope this helps.

Yep. I built a wood cabinet with storage below the saw and folding supports for each side of the saw. There is a 3" dual-locking swivel caster on each corner to make it almost effortless to move around the garage and park tight to the wall between other items when not in use.

Do you already have a stand, or are you building/buying something? Mine came with wheels.

That one is no longer available, but scroll down on that page and see current models. It offers the advantage of folded up, vertical storage when not in use... saves space.

I built this years ago. I'm strictly a metal guy so a wood miter saw is a bother but a necessity - a bother I wanted to be able to shove out of the way 99% of the time.

I was determined to build this with materials on hand for "free." I used mis-matched HF casters and used 2 3/8" oil field pipe. It now cuts large batches of aluminum pipe, tube and flat bar.

Do you guys feel like it every gets squirrely? Any movement when cutting?

Id be afraid that any precision work might be compromised but I have never had a setup like this?

I'm always using one hand to "clamp" the work to the fence, thus my right & left arms are essentially opposing forces and it doesn't move. BUT if you were using the slider to cut larger stuff it might get tricky, I dunno.

This what I did for my stand and how I mounted the casters . Hopefully the pics will come out for you. I did notice that you will have to tie the side legs to the back to make it more ridgid. I have not done that yet, but I am just cutting molding.

Not if the two front ones lock like mine do. I've cut base, crown, casing, framing lumber, and all kinds of other trim and small pieces from sticks up to 16' long without problems as long as they're locked. Without locking, you can't draw the saw forward without the hole cart coming with it.

I've got a Dewalt DW 715 miter saw, mounted on a Dewalt DWX 723 miter saw stand. For ability to move around my garage, I've got the stand on a wooden frame made of 2" X 4", with casters, 2 swivel locking and two fixed. No picture as I'm down in far south Tx, and will return home in April.

I bought the DW715 when it was $150 at HD expecting my HF unit to crater any day, but the damn thing keeps going. When it finally dies I'll be swapping the DW715 onto my rolling "cart." ....................not to say that my cart is super-awesome but it works for me so no need to change. If I could find a DW782 right now for $100 I'd do that but none near me and I really don't need a slider for what I do.
