Are you certain you have 220 volt at the outlet and don't have it wired wrong and trying to run on 120 volt? One leg and neutral or ground?

Nice. I have a 27 gal that's similar to what you started with that I'd love to switch to a 3hp 240v motor and pump.

Yes, those cheapo direct drive pumps are a pain. It would more or less get the job done, but not quite enough to get all the torque out of an impact and it was so loud you couldn’t even bee in the garage when it was running.

This one will have a couple more cfm @90 and the pump is funning 4:1 instead of the DD pump running at 3450rpm. It doesn’t quite have the quieter “kachunk kachunk” of bigger or two stage pumps, but you can at least have a conversation standing next to it.

Definitely can be in the room with it and not feel like you’ve been mildly assaulted after it shuts down..

My first thoughts,

A "15 Amp 220 service" is not enough to run a 3 hp motor. I would expect a minimum of #12 wire and a 30A breaker. But it doesn't sound like you are tripping the breaker, not yet at least.

With a name like "vevor" I would be very suspicious of the motor itself. Even more common brand name "compressor duty" motors are built cheaply. You might have a dud or it might be designed so bad that it can't work as advertised.

You have checked the motor current but I would also check the voltage at the motor while it is running.

Did you move the pump outlet from one side to the other? Does it matter?

No and no.

For all we know the picture you posted has been “mirrored”, which makes left and right look reversed. Heres the same pic “mirrored”:

Yeah, my mistake. Its on a 30 amp circuit.

Motor runs fine.

So you're expecting the pressure switch to act like a current regulator/restrictor? Mmmm idk about that. Why don't you wire it in straight to the wall and use the breaker as a switch just to see if you can oomph over 50 or 60 psi?

Well, new pressure switch/unloader showed up today.

Went right in where the old one was. Same size ports and same format.

Flipped the kill lever to off and the 30a breaker off. Installed the wiring, flipped the breaker and hit the kill lever.

Ran up to pressure just fine. Unloader did its thing at cut out.

Was pretty quick actually. I didn’t time it, but was certainly no more than 60-odd seconds.

Pressure is holding fine, no leaks. But I’m set up for 37 degree flare for hydraulic and fuel line work, so that no surprise.

Nice an quiet. Only noise that is even attention getting is the honk at the intake tubes on the intake filter housings. Slipped a couple lengths vinyl tube on each and its even quieter.

Very happy with the results so far. Ow just have to make it look a little prettier.

No, I’m not. I have no idea where you came up with that.

At any rate, its done and working so I’m out.

Shoreline posted (#25) the link to HF where I got the picture. At one time I was thinking of putting this style of pump on my HF compressor. Yours has the outlet on the opposite side so it seems it doesn't matter which side the outlet goes. Good information. Congratulations on getting yours going.
